In our series introduction, we stated, “Coronavirus [has] made us realize even more how important it is to create a safe home where one can live comfortably despite life’s struggles.” In our last two articles, we discussed the importance of having areas where you can relax. So far, we have focused on indoor spaces—the game room and the theater room. Today, we’d like to move to outdoor spaces.
In 2020, not only were we surprised that movie theaters were forced to close, but we also didn’t expect to see a day when outdoor parks and trails were empty. As stay-at-home orders continued into April and May, the weather became more gorgeous. And our family was itching to get outdoors! This made us realize even more that creating outdoor spaces where you can eat, read, and play is extremely important—during a pandemic or not.
So, what do you and your family like to do outside? Plant flowers? Grow a garden? Build an herb screen? These are wonderful weekend projects! (We actually did all of these while practicing social distancing.) Stay-at-home made us really consider, not only what type of indoor spaces we need, but also what kind of outdoor spaces we want.
What kind of outdoor spaces do you want?!
Consider the type of outdoor spaces you want / need.
Do you want…
- Grill area
- Complete outdoor kitchen
- Pizza oven

We realize that all your “wants” may not fit into your building budget. But we encourage you to really think about how you use your home—both indoors and outdoors. If you have a clear vision for the outside of your home, a plan can be developed so that outdoor items can be added over time.
And isn’t that part of the fun of owning a home? Beautifying and making it the perfect space for you and yours!
