Textile Lofts: A Green Community

Eco-conscious, green living is being discussed more in recent years, as we are learning that our actions have a direct impact on the environment. Because of this, Elements Design Build LLC strives to build sustainable properties that incorporate green features. At the Textile Lofts, a six-unit boutique development near Downtown Easley, we went green in several ways.

Textile Lofts: Green Features

Green Feature #1: Foam Insulation

Because of its green features, Elements Design Build LLC encourages our clients to utilize foam insulation when building a custom home. So, we decided to use foam insulation in the Textile Lofts, as well. Because we don’t build cookie-cutter, generic properties.

Foam insulation is energy efficient. It creates an airtight seal, helping maintain stable temperatures within your home. That means using less energy, which translates to lower energy bills. It is also a moisture barrier, creating a water-tight seal that prevents mold, mildew, and bacteria from developing. That’s a fabulous benefit with the South Carolina humidity!

Green Feature #2: Tankless Hot Water Heaters

Again, Elements encourages our custom clients to choose tankless hot water heaters over traditional ones because of the numerous green features. So, we decided to use them at the Textile Lofts, too!

Tankless hot water heaters not only take up less space, but they are more efficient than traditional hot water heaters. Tankless heaters only heat water when needed, rather than having a tank full of water at all times. Not to worry, you’ll have hot water almost instantly with a tankless heater. No need to run the faucet for several minutes, which translates into using less water. Also, because they aren’t trying to heat a full tank all the time, they use less energy. That means, fewer carbon emissions. And tankless last longer than traditional water heaters. So, they have to be replaced less often, which means less waste.

Green Feature #3: Jeld-Wen Windows

All windows are NOT created the same. At Elements Design Build LLC, we often use Jeld-Wen windows because of their quality and green features. Jeld-Wen windows have been an ENERGY STAR® partner for over 20 years, sources wood from sustainable or certified forests, uses recycled materials in their products, uses non-toxic gases between glass panes, and is committed to reusing or recycling all waste and waste byproducts from manufacturing.

Green Feature #4: Plants

Dane Lytle, Owner of Elements Design Build LLC, is an avid gardener. Because of this, he wanted to make sure that the Textile Lofts property had beautiful plants, flowers, bushes, shrubs, trees, herbs, and fruits. In fact, Elements planted more than what the city required, incorporating 28 different types of greenery on property!

Green Feature #5: Community Garden

The plants on Textile Lofts property aren’t just to look at. Dane decided to incorporate a community garden in between the two buildings. The garden includes blueberry bushes, dill, lavender, mint, rosemary, thyme, and two kinds of basil. Yum! There’s also space for community residents to add their own herbs, fruits, and veggies.

Between the green features used to construct the buildings, as well as the wide variety of plants on property, Textile Lofts is truly a green community.
